
Youth Convention celebrates the energy, excitement, commitment and vitality of our Church. Created for, by and with youth, this event brings together young Catholics from all over the Seattle Archdiocese in addition to delegations from Eastern Washington, Oregon and Canada. Open to all high school students attending with a parish or school group.

Featured Speakers

-David Rinaldi
David is originally from Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1989 with a B.A. in Communications. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Navigator on the KC-135 aircraft for seven years, flying 436 missions around the world. He currently serves full-time for NET Ministries and is responsible for the recruiting, training and supervision of ten ministry teams who reach out to over 60,000 young people every year. David holds a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Theology from Ave Maria University’s Institute of Pastoral Theology and has 20 years of ministry experience with youth and young adults. He has given over 600 presentations to a variety of audiences.

-Sr. Miriam James Heidland
Sr. Miriam James was raised in Woodland, WA and is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno where she played volleyball on a scholarship and majored in Communications. Upon graduation, she joined the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), a missionary community that serves global areas of deepest apostolic need. Sr. Miriam has served in New Mexico, Rome, and North Dakota and is presently at St. Alphonsus Parish in Seattle where she serves as the Director of Novices. She also co-hosts the show “Sisters in Christ” which can be heard on Sacred Heart Radio, 1050 AM.

-Caroline Brennan
Caroline spent much of the earlier part of this year in Haiti helping the CRS emergency team respond to the earthquake. Normally based in New York City, Caroline moved to the U.S. after spending nearly four years in South Asia as a Regional Information Officer for CRS, based in New Delhi. She has traveled extensively across three continents and in 14 countries for CRS to document emergency relief operations and humanitarian development programs. Caroline grew up in a military family that hopped around bases in the country; her parents settled in Austin, TX. She graduated with a Journalism / Spanish degree from Texas A&M. She has four sisters. Caroline has been known to skydive and, in recent years, performed as a Bollywood dancer on stages throughout India.

-Aires Patulot
Mr. Aires Patulot is the Director of Campus Ministry at O’Dea High School. A native to the Puget Sound, Aires holds a BA in Theology from Seattle University and is working towards his Masters in Pastoral Studies. He has traveled the world as a lay Catholic missionary, working with people from all social classes, races, and creeds from North America to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Aires is passionate about bringing young people closer to God. Aside from his missionary work, he has also been a parish youth minister, a radio producer for local catholic radio, and continues to be a retreat and mission leader for the Seattle Archdiocese. Aires and his lovely wife, Aleah, had their first son, Peter Ignatius in 2009. In his free time, Aires enjoys playing guitar, cycling, watching movies, and changing the world.
