GENERAL RULES

  • PLEASE SEE GENERAL RULES AND REGULATONS FOR NON-CROSS COUNTRY SPECIFIC POLICIES.
  • Runners must finish at least one of the preliminary meets to be eligible for the championship meet.

RACE INFO

  • Distances will be .4 miles for the K-3 runners, 1 mile for the 4th and 5th graders, 1.35 miles for the 6th and 7th graders, and 1.5 miles for the 8th graders.
  • There will be a walk-through 1/2 hour prior to the start of the first preliminary meet for both pools.

AWARDS

  • A sportsmanship trophy will be awarded to the team that most personifies the philosophy of CYO Athletics with input from the participating teams. 
  • A trophy will be awarded to the top 3 teams with the most points.  Individually, T-shirts will be awarded to the first 6 place finishers in each division. Places 7 through 15 will receive “place” ribbons.  All other runners will score one point for their team, and receive a participant ribbon, no matter what place they finish.

VOLUNTEERS

  • Course monitors (volunteers) will be needed for all meets.
  • All monitors will need to attend an on-site walk-through meeting before the first preliminary meet.
  • Volunteers should be willing to stay the entire length of the meet.
  • CYO Athletics will need 8-10 volunteers at the finish line and 10-12 volunteers monitoring the course for each meet.
  • Volunteers should check-in at the finish line at the time of the pre-meet coaches meeting for each meet.

SCORING

  • Parish/School team scores will be kept at the championship meet only. Scores will be based on the following:1st = 20 points
    2nd = 18 points
    3rd = 16 points
    4th = 14 points
    5th = 12 points
    6th = 11 points
    7th = 10 points
    8th = 9 points
    9th = 8 points
    10 = 7 points
    11 = 6 points
    12 = 5 points
    13= 4 points
    14 = 3 points
    15 = 2 points
  • Every runner after 15th place, who finishes the racecourse, is guaranteed 1 point for his or her team.
