OYYAM now has a fully operational Young Adult Service Team that ministers and serves in a variety of ways around the Archdiocese of Seattle. This team is comprised of faith-filled young adults who are passionate about their faith and eager to share the Gospel with their community.
In exchange for a year of ministry service, OYYAM provides team members with the following:
- A Eucharistic Centered Community: Through regular participation in the Sacramental life of the Church, Team members will grow in understanding and appreciation of Christian community. Daily, they will share meals together, pray together, and share in ministry to the Church.
- Summer Training Program: Those who join the retreat team will participate in an intensive formation program in which they will learn retreat ministry skills that will enable them to share the Gospel message in a variety of settings. OYYAM will also provide ongoing ministerial support throughout the service year.
- Ongoing Formation: Through weekly gatherings, OYYAM will offer ongoing theological and spiritual formation opportunities. These will include: Sacred Scripture, Sacraments, Catholic teaching, personal prayer, Christian living, and communication and evangelization skills necessary for ministry to various ages and audiences.
- Professional Development: Team members will participate in the Archdiocesan Catechetical Certification Program and the Center for Ministry Development’s Youth Ministry Studies Program. Those that complete two years of service will receive Archdiocesan Catechetical Certification, as well as certification in the specialty of youth ministry.
- Basic Necessities: Food and lodging, monthly stipend, and benefits.
If you are a single young adult between ages 21 and 30, please prayerfully consider applying to serve as a member of the Young Adult Service Team. For more information about the Young Adult Service Team, please contact Edwin Ferrera at edwin.ferrera@seattlearch.org or 206.382.4846.
